We released new virtual machine templates on 8/12/2012!  As always we are hard at work on templates.  Many of the recent changes have been updates, but we do have some new ones for you!

  • SharePoint Server 2013 Preview
  • Windows 8 Enterprise Preview
  • Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 W/ Eclipse IDE
  • Windows 8 Enterprise Preview W/ Office Professional 2013 Preview
  • Windows 8 Enterprise Preview W/ Visual Studio 2012 RC

As Windows 8, Windows 2012, and SharePoint 2013 become more mature we will have additional templates on them solving specific use cases.

This was a jam packed weekend for CloudShare. Many of the ProPlus team attended Silicon Valley SharePoint Saturday and it’s a release weekend.

We Second That Emotion

Our technological devices are an extension of us. The apps we download, the music we store, our contacts, our photos – they all create an image of who we are as individuals. Our computers, laptops, smartphones, all the way down to the cases we choose, say something about the type of person we are. There is a huge emotional component when it comes to the various technologies we interact with on a daily basis. As familiar and comfortable as we have become with technology, sometimes it fails us and it feels good to get angry. We’ve all been there – a system freezes, something’s working a bit slower than we’d like, or we enter the wrong passcode, and we have to wait to access what we need.

Instead of taking a deep breath and realizing everything will be OK, I’ve been known to react like a child having a tantrum. “It’s not working – I hate ALL technology!”  This is known as tech rage.

Gimme Software!

We nerds can never have enough bits!  At CloudShare we know how important the software stack on your virtual machine is.  And we want to give you more.  Here is your chance to help us do that!

But first!  An explanation.  CloudShare Pro has two types of templates, machine templates, and showcase templates.  Machine templates are single VMs with OS, and Software Stack.  Minimal configuration is done on these VMs.  That is your job, you build things.  Our job is to make these templates the best we can.  We do that by keeping current on updates, and making sure critical pieces work correctly.  Showcase templates are one step further.  They are one or more machine environments with OS, software stack, and some specific configuration.  We build some of these, and our friends build others.
