A couple of months ago I wrote an article about the new look of SharePoint 2013, focusing on the new Site Collection themes for SharePoint. I gave a couple of examples for the new built-in themes included in SharePoint 2013.

What is VMWare Tools and why do I need to install it on the guest operating system?
VMWare strongly recommends installing VMWare Tools on the guest operating system in order to prevent the loss of important functionality.
The VMware Tools package has various essential features such as synchronization of time in the guest operating system with time on the host, support for drag and drop functionality, copying and pasting between guest and host, and improved mouse performance in guest OS.
I decided to write this post for those who are not very familiar with Linux systems or prefer using Linux systems with GUI.
This is a short guide explaining how to upgrade (or install) VMWare Tools on the CentOS 6.3 operating system using GUI.

Once in a while I encounter an error that doesn’t provide any helpful information. This is exactly what happened the other day I opened my SharePoint site and found out that the website cannot display the page due to HTTP 500 Internal Server Error.
First thing I tried to do is open SharePoint Central Administration, to see if I get the same error message. Strangely, I was able to open Central Administration without any errors.

SharePoint 2013 offers a vast variety of out-of-the-box site templates. One of the success factors of your SharePoint deployment is choosing the most suitable site template that meets your business needs.
I’ve been asked many times which site template can serve particular required needs and what differs one template from another, so I decided to write a quick overview of all the available SharePoint 2013 site templates and their common uses. I’ve also prepared a SharePoint 2013 environment configured with all site types for some hands-on experience.

I came across this odd error a couple of times in the past few weeks, so I wrote a quick guide that might help you get rid of it.
If you see this error after opening your SharePoint 2013 site, there is a lack of synchronization between Date and Time settings in your SharePoint 2013 Server and your SharePoint web application.
Sorry, something went wrong. The context has expired and can no longer be used. (Exception from HRESULT: 0×80090317)
Here is how you fix it!

Whether you are using SharePoint as your enterprise portal or company website, your clients and users pay a great attention to your website design. In my experience, one of the critical success factors for implementation of an Enterprise Portal is choosing the suitable design that will improve user experience.
Here is the default theme of SharePoint 2013. The good news are, your SharePoint site does not have to be Blue and White anymore!

We get a lot of requests for templates that include Microsoft Dynamics stack. Recently, we published a new template containing Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM is a customer relationship management product. Dynamics CRM features help you to optimize your sales efforts, manage your marketing opportunities and improve your service. Dynamics CRM is user friendly, easy to customize and has great integration with Microsoft Outlook.
I’ve decided to document the installation process and as usual, you can save yourself some time by grabbing this permalink where I’ve already done the work!
